The Perfect Thanksgiving Ice Breaker Game For Kids & Adults
Ah, Thanksgiving—where the food is plentiful, the gratitude is heartfelt, and the family debates are… inevitable.
Seriously, trying to keep everyone entertained between the turkey coma and the heated “Is pumpkin pie overrated?” discussion can feel like an Olympic sport.
But before you panic and start Googling “fun Thanksgiving icebreaker games,” I’ve got you covered with a crowd-pleaser that’ll have everyone laughing, talking, and momentarily distracted from their second (or third) helping of mashed potatoes: Thanksgiving Would You Rather!
Whether you’re wrangling kids at the classroom party, trying to entertain a table full of relatives, or just looking for a fun activity to break up the post-feast nap fest, this game is your secret weapon.
Get ready for some hilarious “Would you rather eat only cranberry sauce for a week or never have pumpkin pie again?” dilemmas that’ll keep everyone—from Great Aunt Edna to your too-cool-for-school teenager—on their toes.
Stick around, because I’m about to serve up all the details!
Why We LOVE Thanksgiving This or That Game
Because it’s the ultimate way to keep everyone entertained while avoiding any awkward political debates or discussions about your life choices (“So, when are you having another baby?” Thanks, Grandma!).
This game brings together kids, parents, teachers, and even that one uncle who usually lurks silently by the snack table.
It’s easy, hilarious, and requires zero prep—perfect for when you’ve got a house full of guests or a classroom bursting with sugar-hyped kids.
Just print, cut, and boom – instant entertainment! It’s perfect for classrooms, parties, or for your next Thanksgiving get together.
Plus, it sparks giggles, ignites silly conversations, and gives everyone a reason to loosen up (besides all those helpings of stuffing).
Honestly, anything that creates more laughter and fewer family feuds is a holiday must in my book!
Thanksgiving Would You Rather Questions
If you’ve ever played “would you rather” growing up, then you probably remember it’s all about choosing between two crazy extremes.
This is the Thanksgiving version of that game.
Whether you call it Thanksgiving Would you Rather or Thanksgiving This or That game, it’s pretty much the same thing.
You can come up with your own wacky questions or have the kids or your guests create some questions.
In the classroom, I’ve had my kiddos write a question on a piece of paper and then crumple it up and toss it in our pilgrim hat.
Then I would draw a question and read it out loud. We would split the classroom area in half so depending on your choice you would move to one side or the other.
Then we would pick a few people to explain their choices.
When we do this activity in smaller groups I use this printable and have the kids talk about their choices in their groups.
Here are some fun and silly Thanksgiving would you rather questions you can steal for your next Thanksgiving gathering:
